Cognitive testing gives us information far beyond the Full Scale IQ. It measures our thinking speed and the time we can hold details in our minds as we make decisions or solve problems. Cognitive testing also provides knowledge about our ability to use and understand words, make inferences, and our spatial skills (like reading maps or doing puzzles). Cognitive testing is essential in identifying our executive functioning skills and disorders that involve weaknesses in executive functioning.
